There's definitely a similarity, but no, modern US would not behave like modern Israel is behaving. Our response to the 2020 riots was extremely hands-off relative to the level of violence of the rioters (who, in one instance, took cobtrol by force of a section of a major US city, declared secession, and held the area for several days [0]).

- HDThoreaun 3y agoThe 2020 riots were nowhere close to October 7th. You think that if a native american separatist group committed a 9/11 level attack the US response would be "hand off"?
- Georgelemental 3y agoWe would have responded with much more force, but we would not have carpet-bombed Arizona. We didn't send out the bombers after Oklahoma City, either.
- pxc 3y agoThere was the MOVE bombing in Philadelphia. If there were indigenous guerilla forces with popular bases of support in some reservations I don't doubt that we'd see the use of bombs and tanks.
- loeg 3y agoThe Cap Hill protests in Seattle had nothing in common with October 7. The police just abandoned the east precinct after fighting with protesters for a few nights in a row. No one shot at them or took hostages. Certainly some rocks were thrown. And the police responded in force. Left wing and right wing people from places across the country that aren't Seattle make way more out of "CHOP" than it was.
