I really like the new notepad. The WinUI overhaul is beautiful and minimalist. The features added so far are all useful without bloating it. Tabs and sessions are fantastic enhancements. Large file support still needs to be improved, and I assume they know that. The only new feature I want is a Recently Used section in the File menu. I would say that Notepad++ now basically serves no purpose on Windows. Notepad obviates its use as a tabbed notepad, with session support. VS Code subsumes its role for code. And that is good because it means I can uninstall Notepad++, and reducing attack surface is good. Notepad++ still has a speed advantage for large files but it is ugly, and in a space where it is too complicated to work as a nice minimalist notepad, and too basic to handle all that VS Code does. I will continue to like the new Notepad as long as they don't add any support for extensions, rich text, or code.
