There is a huge difference between blanket use of e2ee in one of the most popular messenger on earth and a couple of nerds using "maths" on top of whatever protocol to send PGP encrypted messages around. Many, if not most criminals are neither smart nor tech savvy. They're clearly pissed because Meta's step is actually impactful. I appreciate Meta's decision but let's not pretend that there isn't a trade-off.
