Is this still the case? It certainly was in the early days of smartphones, where every update it felt like you needed double the memory to keep up. But I've been using devices with 4GB-6GB of memory for the past 8 years almost, and they don't feel that bad to use. My phone still has 6GB of memory and does all I want it to just fine.
