How does Loco compare to Rocket, which is also supposed to be Rails-like?
- nateb2022 3y agoRocket is its own web framework, but Loco is built on top of axum. Axum is a little more lightweight and has a simpler/cleaner API. Loco also, if I'm not mistaken, is trying to take more of a batteries-included approach than Rocket. According to the axum's readme, another feature that sets it apart is that "axum doesn't have its own middleware system but instead uses tower::Service. This means axum gets timeouts, tracing, compression, authorization, and more, for free. It also enables you to share middleware with applications written using hyper or tonic."
- leftyspook 3y agoI haven't tried Loco, but Rocket is not Rails-like. It does, to me, have the friendliest API among Rust frameworks, but it is nowhere near as battery-filled and opinionated as Rails.
- teaearlgraycold 3y agoDjango is probably the only Rails-like framework that exists. Everything else is a wannabe
- dysoco 3y agoI would say Laravel qualifies as well
- schneems 3y agoI’m not in the Java world so I don’t know if it’s still a thing but the play framework was trying to be rails for Java. Elixr has phoenix. Its more modular but the language itself was created by Jose a Rails core alum who at the time of leaving had the highest number of commits on the Rails.
