Sidelining all the interesting stuff that the article discusses people decided to focus on the picture of Lenna. Yes, I understand it is a problem but it needs to be dealt with in a collective manner by tech community, by say introducing an alternative.
- pseudalopex 3y agoDemonstrations like this used various images forever.
- SiempreViernes 3y agoThere are plenty of alternatives, as well of several calls for using them. For example you can't use Lena in any Nature journal, and they suggest ‘Cameraman’, ‘Mandril’ or ‘Peppers’. In other words, there is practically speaking a well established alternative, and the remaining task is to badger all the holdouts into switching.

- petee 3y agoIf everyone decided to discuss that then it sounds like they are dealing with it in a collective manner. And I think it's a little ignorant to suggest that the issue is lack of an alternative. How about just don't use it? Or take a photo of your own kid and upload it
