Or maybe it's people misinterpretation of the word autopilot?
Even in aviation it doesn't mean no human operator.
>An autopilot is a system used to control the path of an aircraft, marine craft or spacecraft without requiring constant manual control by a human operator. Autopilots do not replace human operators. Instead, the autopilot assists the operator's control of the vehicle, allowing the operator to focus on broader aspects of operations (for example, monitoring the trajectory, weather and on-board systems).[1]
- cassianoleal 3y agoCool, let's put everyone through the same scrutiny and licenses to drive a Tesla as we do for aviation pilots then. That's certainly one way forward.
- sundaeofshock 3y agoGreat. Let’s accept that everyone misinterprets the word autopilot. That means one of two things: The marketing people at Tesla are naïfs and innocently assumed everyone understands the true meaning of the word autopilot. Or The marketing people at Tesla are cynical bastards who know that people misinterpret the word autopilot but used that word anyways since they know it will sell more cars. Which do you think is more likely?
