Right, so let's just give up on every random online entity stealing all your personal data! Perfect shouldn't be the enemy of good. I don't like that gov't agencies do it either, but that doesn't mean I'm not happy that there's at least some consequences for others that are trying to do it. Also if a nation-state level entity is targeting me specifically, then I'm screwed even if they don't have any of my personal data.
