I just took a look at this, and it looks like while the React frontend bits are open-source, I don’t see where the parts that do the heavy lifting are kept? There’s no API in this project that I can find (and it’s a Next project, hiding that is hard), and their docs steer you to their hosted API (with misspelled URLs).
Maybe this is their first-step release and the API is coming, but trumpeting how open-source you are when you’re about as open-source as something like Sanity feels like the “technically correct is the best kind of correct” definition of open source. And I quite like Sanity as a product, the model hinted ant here isn’t bad, but the marketing is misleading! If I could run it end-to-end locally, I’d be likely to do so, and because this tech stack is firmly in my wheelhouse I’d likely push patches upstream, but this is a very quick pass from me given what I’ve been able to learn from looking at it. There are other ways to do this easily if I’m not going to run the whole stack locally.
- voidr_user 3y agoThank you for your feedback! Both projects are open source: https://github.com/voidr-team/voidr-images-web https://github.com/voidr-team/voidr-images-web https://github.com/voidr-team/voidr-images-service https://github.com/voidr-team/voidr-images-service The API is already available too and we already have users in production. You can sign up here and test it in 1 minute. https://voidr.co/images/ https://voidr.co/images/ On the other points, thank you very much for your valuable feedback!
- eropple 3y agoOK, cool - I see my confusion, voidr-images-service doesn't appear to have been pinned at the time so it wasn't clear how to find it next to voidr-images-web--or at least it wasn't obvious by name. Cool, I'll take a look this weekend.
