- keep_reading 3y agoDo you get your TV from eBay too? DVDs look so terrible on modern screens. 720p is the bare minimum acceptable resolution
- AlexandrB 3y agoThey're alright. Just takes a little getting used to. Several shows have also had terrible post-dvd releases, so the DVD version is sometimes superior in other ways. I'm thinking of the cropping done for widescreen in The Simpson and The Wire as well as the notoriously bad Buffy[1] HD release. - andrewstuart 3y agoI mainly watch YouTube.
- adastra22 3y agoAt least where I am, the term DVD is sometimes encompassing of BluRay as well.
- autoexec 3y agoI love physical media, but too often media companies are refusing to release their shows on any form of physical media to drive subscriptions to streaming services. Disney is notorious for this.
- n8cpdx 3y agoWith the recent price hikes I’ve decided to cancel and start buying 4K blu rays. Better quality and then I own a physical copy that won’t get yanked away. Max in particular has troubled me with their decision to withhold classic HBO content because it is apparently cheaper for them (e.g. Westworld). Unfortunately, this has turned into a full blown collection hobby, so I’m likely not going to save any money. But there’s nothing wrong with a new hobby I guess. Fortunately the local record store has plenty of cheap used disks.
