Show HN: MittaAI
Hey HN community! I'm Kord Campbell, the founder of MittaAI. Previously, I founded Grub and Loggly.
In early 2020, as the world grappled with Covid, I embarked on a journey with Mitta.us (the precursor to MittaAI), aiming to create a personal tool for bookmarking, saving, and indexing documents for later search. During that period, I resided in Alameda, California, where I was lucky enough to encounter an OpenAI engineer. This chance meeting led to me gaining early access to ChatGPT. This use sparked an idea early on: build a pipeline system for processing the documents stored in Mitta using various calls to models and enable discussion with bots about those documents.
Over the past two years, I've been developing exactly that system, and have since launched MittaAI, which utilizes containerized pipelines for efficient document processing. My goal was to create a system that's fast, specializes in handling document sets, and is mostly user-friendly.
One of the challenges I found in building AI applications was been managing asynchronous data processing, especially with complex formats like PDFs and integrations with bot frameworks, like Discord. To give you a taste of how MittaAI handles this, I've uploaded a RAG-based approach for searching indexed documents and featured on the cookbook page, along with a few video guides.
Things with the system are still sometimes brittle, and we're definitely in the early stages of a startup, but I believe taking a risk posting this here has potential. For now, it's free to use, with your own OpenAI tokens. I'd love to hear your feedback or answer any questions about MittaAI. Thanks for reading and for your support!
