- AtlasBarfed 3y agoHow long will h actually serve?
- DamnYuppie 3y agoMy guess would be all of it. They rarely shorten sentences that are this short.
- aaronmdjones 3y agoThe US Federal prison system abolished parole in the 1980s. All of it. EDIT: Not 1970s.
- dragonwriter 3y agoAll of it, barring pardon/commutation or something overturning the verdict or sentence: Its federal, so there is no parole. Its less than a year, so federal good conduct time reductions aren't available, either.
- SuperNinKenDo 3y agoI was a little unsettled by some of the bloodlust around this guy, with people saying quite seriously that he should face even a life sentence for what he did. (Personal aviation folks, mostly.) But on the other hand, 6 months seems incredibly lenient. What do people here feel?
- bigfishrunning 3y agoI hope he at least permanently lost his pilot's license over this. 6 months does seem light, but I just don't want him flying again.
- aaronmdjones 3y agoFollow-up comment: He has his license back.
- aaronmdjones 3y agoThe FAA did take his license a while back. I don't remember whether they said anything about it being permanent.
- username135 3y agoWasnt expecting someone to link a fox news article here today.
- soulbadguy 3y agoSuch a "waste of life". On one hand, the guy doesn't really look like a "bad guy" with a habit of nefarious or negligent doing, and nobody got hurt in the accident. On the other hand, we simply cannot let thing type of careless action go unpunished. Nobody in his entourage told him it was a bad idea ?
- malcolmgreaves 3y ago> On one hand, the guy doesn't really look like a "bad guy" Curious: why doesn't he look like a bad guy to you?
- soulbadguy 3y agoThe lack of prior offense or criminal behavior. I think the only think we was ever convicted for was ridding a train without paying or something. Also the prosecutor said : > “It appears that [Jacob] exercised exceptionally poor judgment in committing this offense,” prosecutors argued in a sentencing memorandum. “[Jacob] most likely committed this offense to generate social media and news coverage for himself and to obtain financial gain. Nevertheless, this type of ‘daredevil’ conduct cannot be tolerated.” It seems to me like a chronic case of testosterone/clout chasing induced stupidity.
