Germany is still using Lignite, Hard Coal, and Natural gas to generate 50GW vs. 4.1 GW of nuclear. How is too much nuclear and exporting it a problem?
Europe is heavily reliant on natural gas which is generally produced by Russia, (transacting through India or China ultimately does not change that).
- Retric 3y agoGermany adding a Nuclear can be good for Germany and bad for France. Germany is happy to buy cheap electricity if it means saving money on coal. If importing at say 5c/kWh saves them money by using less coal then Germany would happily import at 4.5c/kWh. However, with nuclear they save less money shutting reactors down so they have less interest in importing power unless it’s really cheap as in 1c/kWh cheap. This means if Germany adds nuclear reactors either France gets less money when exporting electricity per kWh, or France exports fewer kWh per year. Both of those are bad for France.
