Using the author logic, we should also watch kramer with the image shrunk to a quarter of the screen (the size of the tv in the past was smaller) and also using garbage color accuracy (I don't actually know how color accurate were tv in the past but I suspect it was horrible). I am still waiting for 4k/8k 100hz movies and youtube, but until then I will use motion interpolation on my TV as the next best thing.
