Meta, IBM Create Industrywide AI Alliance to Share Technology
- mensetmanusman 3y agoMeta's strategy to leverage the open source community and prevent competitors from getting too far ahead is logical.
- bozhark 3y agoFor evil
- cebert 3y agoIt's great to see the two leading and most respected technology firms form an AI alliance. I can't think of any firms I would trust more than Meta and IBM.
- duh-fud 3y agocreated an account to say lol
- startupsfail 3y agoWho’d you rather trust? The WorldCoin guy?
- alentred 3y agoOK, I sense the sarcasm, but what do you have against IBM?
- nprateem 3y agoMy enemy's enemy is my friend

- say_it_as_it_is 3y agoIBM is not a company to partner with for open source development. They failed terribly to commercialize Watson, a proprietary AI. IBM continues because of legacy and captured government relationships, not because of thought leadership. Say what you will about Meta, but they've done more for open source AI than any other company. Granted, transformers research emerged from Google, but they're not open sourcing Bard any time soon.
- pjmlp 3y agoYou mean one of the companies that is the reason Linux got such an uptake among big corps in the 2000's, and nowadays indirectly owns most of the Linux kernel, GCC contributions and is the 2nd biggest Java implementer since forever?
- Tostino 3y agoIBM is first, and foremost to service's company. They just care about the government contracts to implement whatever solution is leading.
