13" e-paper transit information display with 3 years of battery life
- iefbr14 3y agoLooks nice but how well can it endure daily exposure to sunlight?
- giuliomagnifico 3y agoHere in Italy all the bus stops have e-ink displays since 6/7 years and the displays look like new, no issue and far better readability than the normal paper after a long exposure to sunlight. They don’t discolor or lose contrast like the normal ink on paper do.
- Gravityloss 3y agoE-paper, great idea. They have tiny solar panels over here that power the led time table displays. I think there needs to be a hefty battery too since the panel can be under snow for months on a snowy year.
- giuliomagnifico 3y agoSubways? Also on open roads, attach the solar panel is more work an costs, recharge it one time every 3 years could be more convenient for the municipalities.
- Gravityloss 3y agoIn subways one can assume there to be power available. But even there a solar panel can charge from artificial light. In reality the solar panels are more for sparser areas where it would cost a lot more to dig cables.
