This is a classic case of monopsony. Health care is highly localized so if a large hospital system is the biggest employer and buys up all the private practices you don't have much choice but to join them.
They're now basically doing an end run on doctors by assigning most of the easier routine visits to PAs and loading them up back to back with cases.
- fuzzfactor 3y agoWell I guess this is all part of the "revolution in health care" you hear about sometimes. It could be worse and people on either side could end up completely revolting in more ways than they already are now.
