Not an expert in photography but I think phone cameras are more optimized for portraits than for long-distance landscape photography. You probably need specialized equipment for that not to be underwhelming. It's easier when you are e.g. inside a forest and take a photo, those can be really good if the light is right and the phone is decent, but panoramic photos from afar, not so much.
