3/4th of F-Droid Community Council members resigned
- rossdavidh 3y agoMaybe it doesn't matter but a comment on context (what is F-Droid, for example) would be interesting for those like me who don't know it.
- h2odragon 3y agohttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-Droid https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-Droid non-google app store for devices running android OS.
- ngcc_hk 3y agoAny impact on user. Use it for runnng linux.
- lucideer 3y agoSiblings have covered it well enough but just to add what I think is a significant detail: it's the primary way to distribute & run open source software on Android. So it can be thought of as equivalent to brew/ports on macos or <insert package manager> on any other linux distro.
- SushiHippie 3y agoAlso another important bit is, F-Droid builds the apk's (android apps) by themselve from source code. So you can be sure (as long as you trust F-Droid, which is completely open source, the infrastructure too) that the app you install is nothing but open source. Which is something you can't be sure on e.g. google play store or the apple app store.

- squigz 3y agoFrom the contributor spurring the resignments... > I've personally learned from this experience, and would like to let bygones be bygones I'm always glad when they just want to move on.
