Worked with a guy that worked on that. He designed our word-processor on CTOS. The internal variables for a character's position were in several coordinate systems. xd/yd for the 'document' coordinates. xp/yp for the 'page' coordinates. The physical screen coordinates were xa/ya. Couldn't figure that out; asked him. He was a little embarrassed. "Uh, thats for x-Alto and y-Alto. Just got used to calling them that, at my last job."
