I am really curious to how much load the server have to handle in order to survive HNs hug of death

I mean, that site is just down occasionally. A bunch of auxiliary infrastructure is hosted by volunteers that aren't necessarily available 24/7. It's an issue.

Can I contribute with hosting somehow?

FYI here are the instructions: https://github.com/dlang-tour/english https://github.com/dlang-tour/english (and forum: https://forum.dlang.org/post/hjvmxbocubjkojnyklxq@forum.dlang.org https://forum.dlang.org/post/hjvmxbocubjkojnyklxq@forum.dlan...)

Volunteers?? Why host it like that? :( For the traffic D gets these days, it seems like hosting ti as static content on Netlify or somewhere would be viable for a low cost.

They are switching to new infrastructure. It's been down since second half of November.
