A microframework for modular monoliths and loosely coupled apps
- whalesalad 3y agoThis is really cool. I've built a pretty big application on top of Flask using techniques like this and a mindset of hexagonal architecture. The goal being that Flask is just the glue between the core app and HTTP, and can be replaced at any time (for instance with a more modern/faster framework using ASGI). Handlers reach out to either 'managers' that grab data in a query/read approach, or they reach out to 'operations' which are more for mutating things and running more complex/transactional logic. It has worked out really well and scaled to be quite large. The operations and managers can then be used easily from cli scripts, background processing workers (dramatiq) or other methods outside of the http context. I love to see more outside the box thinking here in the python ecosystem, so I will check this out for sure.
