  I wasn't attacking the person, rather the style of argument being made. Ironically, your follow up comment does point out the typical HN rush to judgment, a much more literal ad hominem.

      An ad hominem is typically based on past actions and character. I know nothing of yours. It's just your argument itself that was shallow and insubstantive. You can take that personally, but it's not. Is there another reason you were joking instead of just making your point?
