Generating AI Images Uses as Much Energy as Charging Your Phone, Study Finds
- gus_massa 3y agoLet's compare with the energy to make a cup of tea. Each cell pone is different, but let's assume 5 W hour ~= 1800 0J ~= 4300 cal Assuming a cup of 250ml, this is enough to heat the water 4300 / 250 ~= 17C°(30F°). For a tea, you should heat from 15°C(60°F) to 90°C(194°F). So to make a tea you use (90-15)/17 ~= 4.4 cell phone charges or 4.4 AI images.
