Does it even matter? I think people have already learned you can’t depend on a single social network. And that dependence was the only thing of value Twitter had; same as with Facebook or Google, everything left there is just a pile of technical debt.
- throwawayqqq11 3y agoProtocols over platforms is the real lesson here. Especially for our regulators.
- dun44 3y agoProblem is, this isn’t sustainable. Protocols need to evolve to continue being relevant, and vendors use that for their user-hostile needs. See how WWW evolved from hyperlinked documents into a Rube Goldberg remote application protocol. Besides, those two - protocols and teaching users not to depend on any single platform - aren’t mutually exclusive.
- Zigurd 3y agoIt's kind of fascinating just to see how much metal gets bent in the train wreck. Do the lbo lenders step in and force bankruptcy? Does one of elon's co-investors step In and give him a few months more breathing room? If so how does the cap table change? If cyber truck flops and people realize that Tesla isn't worth 10x BMW, does Elon get a margin call? Strictly speaking none of this matters. But it's entertaining.
