Tesla fans frustrated by reveal of more expensive, less impressive Cybertruck

- rvz 3y ago> most of whom had to be shown how to open the passenger door using a button inside the vehicle. Never seen a customer complain about a car dealer or salesman opening the door for them. Rolling stone working overtime to make an storm in a teacup.
- dkrich 3y agoLots of reasons to make fun of that event but that is a pretty stupid one
- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y agoLearning how to work with a CyberTruck door isn't the problem. The problem is when it refuses to work. Say on electrical system or battery failure (and exhaustion), in cold weather, such as snow/ice build-up, and getting out in case of emergency. The door literally can't open unless a few small motors spin the right amount with the right force. That's a ridiculous overcomplication for something as basic as opening a door. Existing Teslas already have this problem across all their models, and people HAVE gotten stuck in them during fires and crashes. I don't think Tesla is learning, because this looks even worse. Oh also... if someone decides to close the door while you're opening it, you'll be left with no fingers. Best. Design. Ever.
- sidibe 3y agoNoone cares who opens the door, my question while watching the event was whether you could even open the passenger door from the outside. It seemed to depend on the window being down, maybe that's another security feature like the bulletproof-ness for the post apocalyptic vibes Elon mentioned he was feeling
- rurp 3y agoIt fits the pattern of Tesla choosing gimmicky features that function poorly. For cosmetic changes, whatever; but it's idiotic to do this with safety related features. Being potentially unable to exit the vehicle in an emergency is as irresponsible as hiding the windshield wiper controls for no good reason.
