I get where you're coming from – the world isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, and yeah, we do need to be prepared for that. But here's the thing: there's a world of difference between being realistic and outright traumatizing, especially when it comes to kids.
Watching snuff videos as a kid isn't just 'dealing with reality' – it's a one-way ticket to Trauma Town, with potential lifelong psychological consequences. Sure, our brains are spongy when we're young, but they're soaking up everything – good and bad. Exposing a kid to that level of violence isn't about teaching them life lessons; it's more likely to warp their view of the world and desensitize them to violence.
We don't live in a utopia, and we shouldn’t pretend to. Kids will inevitably face hard truths and tough times. But let’s equip them with resilience, empathy, and understanding, not shock and awe. There's a middle ground between bubble-wrapping our kids and throwing them into the deep end of the worst humanity has to offer.
