We eat about an avocado a day. When we're down to the last two or three, we buy a bag or two at Costco (by far the best in our area), and put most of them in a fridge. Then as we eat the most ripe one we take one out of the fridge. Then whole ripening thing collapses to optimizing the buffer size.
