In a very similar situation myself, so for starters best of luck and hang in there. We're approaching winter and I live in WA so am biased towards going south.

In a very similar situation myself, so for starters best of luck and hang in there. We're approaching winter and I live in WA so am biased towards going south. Without getting too detail oriented: southern Utah/Vegas/Arizona-strip area are nice, temperate daytime temps (during winter) and a whole lot to do and explore and relatively cheap. Plenty of national/local/state parks to check out too. The south east could be nice as well but am less familiar personally
