macOS is a unix, is graphical and was it from the beginning. I still spend most of my working time in iTerm with fish+neovim. Because the alternatives are slower, bloated and uglier. But, of course, technically I am still using a GUI, it is just that for some of my workflows GUI applications does not add much value. They also compose in a worse way.
