Henry Kissinger Has Died
- teshigahara 3y ago[flagged]
- golergka 3y agoThe man who brought up a billion Chinese out of hunger and poverty by opening China to the world's labour markets and capitalism.
- megous 3y agoAnd I thought people bring themselves out of poverty by hard work...
- generalizations 3y agoNice to hear a contrarian opinion, especially if it’s a positive one.
- acdha 3y agoThe idea was DeGaulle’s, and the actual lifting was done by the Chinese. It’s one of the better things he did (except from the Taiwanese perspective) but it hardly exonerates the rest.

- jmyeet 3y agoEvil may not live forever but it gets as close to it as it can. How this war criminal [1] got a Nobel Peace Prize is mystifying. - Hikikomori 3y agoWell he ended the war no? Just had to prolong it so he could help end it. Got to bomb a few extra countries for fun as well. Nixon also called him 'his Jew boy's.
- Quekid5 3y agoI'm not one to celebrate good news, but I'll take it.

- megous 3y agoClearly, not a loved man. Judging by the comments, so far. :) I wonder if people would flag bad comments on a death announcement of a child mass murderer, or some serial rapist.

- Kye 3y agoBy some perspectives he is a mass murderer. edit: was
- batch12 3y agoFor me, it depends on the comment-- so maybe?
- refurb 3y agoI wouldn’t judge opinions of the man based on social media comments. Most are the kind of self-righteousness that only youthful idealism can drive. Not to mention the extent of opinions is often driven by their knowledge which unfortunately is only as deep as what a Jacobin article can provide.
- 082349872349872 3y agoFrom what I could tell from one of his books, he believed that ends (in his case, preventing a repeat of the Great War, ie WWI) justify means. (I neither share that basic belief nor believe that the known harms of the means he employed balanced the unknown —but in my eyes relatively small— risk which his end was to avoid)
- riffic 3y agoReuters didn't have anything more substantial than this prepared ahead of time?

- h2odragon 3y agoOne of the obituaries to read with great satisfaction. I can disagree with many things he did, but I do not doubt that he thought they needed to be done, for causes greater than his own rewards.

- Quekid5 3y ago> I can disagree with many things he did, but I do not doubt that he thought they needed to be done, for causes greater than his own rewards. Explain, please, what exactly he thought what these great causes and/or rewards were. He was just an evil, opportunistic man.
- Pxtl 3y agoI actually disagree on that. He took every side on every issue depending on which way the wind was blowing. He knew exactly who to suck up to to get ahead of the game. I don't think he actually believed in much at all.
- kinj28 3y agoSomehow I just remember him for his ill comments for Indira Gandhi & his hate towards Indians.
