Totally agree, I want to know what or of warranty cost of ownership is. Especially since most auto manufacturers only design for say ~10 year reliability. Sure

Totally agree, I want to know what or of warranty cost of ownership is.
Especially since most auto manufacturers only design for say ~10 year reliability. Sure we could make a a part that would last forever, but it’d be heavy (bad for fuel economy) and expensive, so let’s make the lightest and cheapest part that will last about x years (we still want all that spare part revenue too!)
- tacocataco 3y agoThat's fine making it light, but you have to engineer the car so you can get at it reasonably. There is zero reason to put a battery in a wheel well for instance. What did it make the car $1 cheaper to make? Forget the battery till the end of the design?
