I think the title is poorly phrased and should be something along the lines of “38% of Europeans Feel They are Unable to Meet Their Calorific Requirements Due to Finances” to remove the debate as to whether or not we need 3 meals a day. The reality is there is no hard and fast rule as to how many meals one should eat as we all have different lives and biological factors playing a role here. The headline is that people feel they are not getting the sustenance they require because they simply cannot afford to, which is terribly sad.
