  I'm somewhat dubious of Al Jazeera and Hamas numbers. Neither are exactly objective or reliable sources. But I'm sure the number is high given the dense population and the large proportion of children. Very tragic. I think this will be clearer over time but this conflict will be seen as whatever it was before Oct 7th and after Oct 7th. Not clear where we go from here. On one hand I blame the Palestinians, both in terms of their recent and historical actions, on the other hand we wouldn't be in this situation without Israeli government actions, strategically and tactically, over the last few decades. But then this government is in power because of the Palestinians. There are of course other players that have been working on creating this mess. Most likely we're still going to escalate from here. It's sad but it's hard to see any other way.
