In RF electronics, wires end up looking like transmission lines.
Here’s one of the classic lectures on wave propagation and reflections, where it looks at similarities in wave behaviour across mechanical, electrical, acoustic and optical systems.

Wires don't end up looking like transmission lines, they always ARE transmission lines. At low frequencies, transmission lines end up looking like the idealized cartoon wires that we use in circuit analysis.
