If there is no speed limit, most of the time there are physical limitations like vehicles that make people go at reasonable speeds. I believe going at 140Kph today in a highway is totally reasonable, but politicians want to make it illegal so they have more power over people and because they can fine-tax them billions. Fines are a huge business.
