This seems cool but I can't help but think it should be named Brandy since brandy is distilled wine and whisky is something different.

- lessbergstein 3y agoFortified wine or Thunderbird would be a more accurate simile, I think
- ulizzle 3y agoPort was what I was thinking. Can’t turn wine into whiskey. That’s not only impossible but grounds for a holy war between wine and whiskey aficionados Plus it goes with the whole gaming port thing
- bloqs 3y agoPort - what an amazing name!
- Etheryte 3y agoAn amazing name that's also completely impossible to search for.
- bloqs 3y agoYes, had i thought about it a minute longer...
- kijin 3y agoSherry, then. Or vermouth. Or any other fortified wine. It shouldn't be any more difficult to search for than whisky.
- filoleg 3y agoHow about Winegar? Has “wine” in the name, and vinegar is essentially what wine ends up becoming after some time anyway.
- hnfong 3y agoThought it was sarcasm... (sorry..)
- Closi 3y agoKind of already used by MacPorts (Jokes are already there for Port / Cask / Brew etc which would probably confuse things)
- woleium 3y agoThe dude is not old enough to drink yet, i think we can forgive his naming scheme, lol.
- orf 3y agoHe’s under 18? Impressive!
- andruby 3y agoDrinking wine at 17 is fine in many countries. The US is probably among the strictest.
- isametry 3y agoIn a lot of countries, drinking wine is fine (as in legal) at ANY age. It's the purchase that is so often regulated. (And you're right, in many places the latter limit is lower than 18. For example in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark and Belgium, non-spirits like wine and beer can be bought from 16.) The two (drinking age vs. alcohol buying age) often get confused, but consumption limits per se are actually pretty rare. (Assuming it takes place in private – laws regarding drinking in public are somewhat more common.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_drinking_age https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_drinking_age
- isaacryu 3y agoHaha tbh not a lot of thought went into the name, just went for a drink with a higher alcohol content, and I think Whisky is kinda catchier.
- seanhunter 3y agoMaybe he's thinking about the story about how Queen Victoria used to find the claret at state dinners too weak for her, so would take a flask of Royal Lochnagar whisky to supercharge her wine.[1] [1] https://scotchwhisky.com/whiskypedia/1888/royal-lochnagar/ https://scotchwhisky.com/whiskypedia/1888/royal-lochnagar/
- ethbr1 3y agoExplains a lot about Queen Victoria. Made of sterner stuff!
- brandall10 3y agoI imagine being stronger than the base technology is what is being conveyed - ie. "wine is fine but liquor is quicker".
