What is the problem this is solving?

  Prevents your digitally connected output devices from sleeping. They may not wake up until you manually tickle them, or they wake so slowly that your short notification sounds get lost or delayed, causing problems for you.

    When I first encountered this phenomenon, it really annoyed me. Now that practically all of my audio connections are digital, it's so common that I don't really notice it. Nice when something that's bothered me bothered someone else enough to fix it for me. :)
