What would be those interests, an why?
- mytailorisrich 3y agoEconomic interests (you know... the Financial Times) who want more/cheaper labour, larger consumers base, appreciating property market, etc. This is not hidden.
- xyzzy123 3y agoIf you look at the stats about growth minus net migration in Australia, NZ, Canada, UK they all look pretty sad. UK is at the bottom of the list tho, if you think UK is high Australia's migration rate per 10k is DOUBLE that.
- mytailorisrich 3y agoThe growth that matters is per capita. That also removes the incentive to indeed "just add more people" to show GDP growth. Essentially, the UK is currently using immigration to prop up overall GDP figures and mask that the economy is at best stagnating, but more likely in decline per capita (I.e. People are getting individually poorer)
