Tanker should provide all consumables - fuel, lubricants, etc.
On a 4-engined aircraft, one engine could be powered down at a time for maintenance.
But if perpetual flying became a real need, indirect cycle nuclear aero engines would quickly be developed.

- DrNosferatu 3y agoAs far as I'm aware, the engines ground tested well, but there never was a nuclear-powered flight. Then ballistic missiles made the need for such a thing disappear...
