Rockwell Retro Encabulator [video]
- niccl 3y agoAnd then there's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IgF6_jVaj8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IgF6_jVaj8
- pants2 3y agoThrowback. Even though people called for the end of Filmore's law years ago, today's Turbo Encabulators have more than 1,000 times the sinusoidal deplanaration control. Crazy to think that they were worried about side fumbling just 15 years ago.
- CapstanRoller 3y agoThey should've kept the original base-plate of prefabulated amulite. Too much profit-driven "optimization" IMHO
- jszymborski 3y agoWe need to end the amulite cargo culting. People just say this stuff because prefabulating amulite is more expensive than alternating the magnetoreluctance in software so the load on the phase detractors and cardinal grammetres is completely disappated by a few extra spurving barrings. I've totally had it with these amulite hipsters.
- matheusmoreira 3y agoThe rotational velocidensity is still quite low though... When will they improve this?
- junon 3y agoThis was the video that sparked my interest in modial interactions of magneto reluctance, for which I just finished my bachelor's. Crazy how far we've come with capacitive diractance since then.
- smudgy 3y agoThere was one of these about IT that made my mind melt - I understood all the words but it didn't make sense and I kinda mentally blanked out to the point I don't even remember what it was (but I'm sure it was on youtube as I saw it on Cytu.be). I watched it a few times but then it just vanished and I never found it again. A shame I didn't save it.
- dev_tty01 3y agoClassic. https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&query=encabulator&sort=byDate&type=story https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=false&qu...
- dmd 3y agoThere's a subreddit full of this stuff - https://www.reddit.com/r/VXJunkies/ https://www.reddit.com/r/VXJunkies/ - with some great writing in it.
- a1o 3y agoIf someone needs the old link https://old.reddit.com/r/VXJunkies/ https://old.reddit.com/r/VXJunkies/
- darksim905 3y agois there a 'name' for these types of troll videos?
- pyinstallwoes 3y agoSometimes I get fooled by that sub.
- pohl 3y agoSee also Leslie's iconic piping speech from the brief but excellent series Patriot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx3ivkUPT6k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx3ivkUPT6k
- qwertox 3y agoI was about to post this, it's excellent. I also like the depressing tone of the series, a bit like Mr. Robot. Wait, I've just clicked your link, I thought you were referring to the scene of the presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F-IHvF5OCA&t=34s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F-IHvF5OCA&t=34s
- hcarvalhoalves 3y agoNow you know how the non-technical CEO feels during the meeting with the dev team.
- deleted 3y ago[deleted]
- causality0 3y agoI don't know why people are always posting the Rockwell version when the older Turbo Emcabulator video is far superior. https://youtu.be/Ac7G7xOG2Ag?si=YrRZEJvcVQh19p7p https://youtu.be/Ac7G7xOG2Ag?si=YrRZEJvcVQh19p7p
- PTOB 3y agoAmen. That deadpan price tag drop at the end.
- lacrimacida 3y agoTechnobabble at its best
- mgdlbp 3y agohttps://ncatlab.org/nlab/all_pages https://ncatlab.org/nlab/all_pages ;-D
- theodric 3y agoWhat the actual hell is this? Have people really gone to this much effort to write a backstory for a comedic skit?
- bitwize 3y agoI hope they used Wilson countersink flanges. You do NOT want hydraulic torque leakthrough on your encabulator, the prantkens lost can settle through the seismic clutch bivalve and induce a failover cascade, becoming very dangerous. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cDsRXhtHW9Q https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cDsRXhtHW9Q
- willis936 3y agoI still reach my trusty 25120 when I have data I don't care about. https://web.archive.org/web/20160313132244/https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/85027770/25120SpecTwoSides%20NC.pdf https://web.archive.org/web/20160313132244/https://dl.dropbo...
- namuol 3y agoI don’t know what all the fuss is about. It’s a perfectly cromulent promo video.
- HenryBemis 3y agoI also find fascinating how they make a Plumbus!! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eMJk4y9NGvE https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eMJk4y9NGvE
- niccl 3y agoand possibly slightly relevant,: Not the Nine o'clock news seleling/buying hifi equipment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvswW6M7bMo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvswW6M7bMo
- _a_a_a_ 3y agoThat's strange, I always thought that sketch (which I've only ever knew audio-only) was Monty python. No idea it was NTNoN
- H8crilA 3y agoIt's also important to know where you are (by knowing where you aren't): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZe5J8SVCYQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZe5J8SVCYQ There's also a version for when you need that little bit of extra motivation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q11oxUGvi8g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q11oxUGvi8g
- datameta 3y agoWhat a legacy. Practically pioneered a new field single-handedly. And a few decades later they did it again! https://youtu.be/5nKk_-Lvhzo?si=fDThIHMS9V1joh-t https://youtu.be/5nKk_-Lvhzo?si=fDThIHMS9V1joh-t Some will say the toroidal de-synchronizer firmware didn't need a significant refactor but those folks are probably still using memory unsafe languages with their 1978 V1.1 differential vortex limiter module.
- bitwize 3y agoRewrite it in Rust!
- andrewstuart 3y agoHard to believe the Encabulator is still being developed after all these years. Those guys were light years ahead when it first came out. I think the formula for success for the Encabulator must have been licensing because if you search YouTube for Encabulator you'll find a vast array of companies developed Encabulator based products.
- gojomo 3y agoPeople don't realize how dependent modern US industry depends on encabulators from China.
- Nihilartikel 3y agoIt is peak hacker news that nobody, Nobody, here can suppress their techno optimism for long enough to acknowledge that this technology is in the direct lineage of the humanitarian disaster brought about by the Eschatron 9000. I'm out..
