Specifically, in what way is Breezy an improvement over existing DVCSes

- Jaxan 3y agoNote that it says copyright 2013 on the bottom. So it is one of the existing DVCSes. Still I agree that the page doesn’t show much.
- actionfromafar 3y agoThe original answer must have been, beats CVS handsomely.
- sampo 3y agoBazaar (and probably Breezy also) is able to push over ssh or sftp into the remote file system without needing Bazaar to be installed on the remote computer. Whereas with git and mercurial you need to have git or mercurial installed on the remote computer as well. This is probably not at all important today, but things were different 17 years ago.
- plorkyeran 3y agoGit does not need git to be installed on the remote system to push or pull over ssh.
- sampo 3y agoAccording to this 2011 Stackoverflow answer, the remote machine needs to have `git-receive-pack` available. If not the whole of git. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5533912/what-is-a-simple-way-to-git-push-to-another-machine https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5533912/what-is-a-simple...
- cmrdporcupine 3y agoIt's like 15 years old, and came out around the same time as git (was called bazaar back then). And unlike git at the time had proper multiplatform (e.g. Windows) support. So it's not making an argument about improving on existing DVCSes... because it is an existing DVCS. We evaluated it at a shop I was a lead at back then. Worked fine enough, though we ended up using Mercurial, which had similar advantages over git -- cross platform, and CLI was more intuitive, but in most respects similar to git, etc (because it, like git, was inspired by bitkeeper, ec.). Git is... fine. But I wish the young and unaware would stop imagining that it's somehow the entire horizon of revision control.
