How to get funding and hosting upgrade for Hacker News?
This website is giving sorry messages. I'd like to take action and upgrade what is necessary to make it work? Who to contact here? I can put certain funding myself until it scales.
- smoldesu 3y agoYou can't. It's hosted on a single machine and most of the code is single-threaded. It's maintained by a small group of people with limited time and resources, and as far as I know there is no way to get access to the codebase. HN is funded by Y-Combinator, who I'm certain would be happy to take your money but I'm not confident it would get put towards improving this site.
- Tomte 3y agoHN is run by a VC fund with some of the richest people on the planet. If money were a consideration (and it isn't) there is nothing even a collection among users could achieve that anyone there (except the presumably non-billionaire HN moderator) might even deign to think two seconds about.
- lawisimportant 3y agoOh I know, but still it is giving errors for days. seems like nobody cares?
- meiraleal 3y agoIf nobody cares nobody will let you try to "help" too
- surprisetalk 3y agoNot answering your question, but I hear that the site performs much better if you sign out.
