I have absolutely zero advice to give, but I absolutely feel the sentiment of “I want to write programs, but I don’t want to be a programmer.”
I walk my dog around the US Capitol a lot, and every time I’m there I find myself wondering if I wouldn’t be happier doing landscaping for the architect of the capitol and writing code as and when I want, how I want, only as a hobby.
- bitwize 3y agoI'm reminded of something. There's a Finnish guy on YouTube, goes by Bisqwit. He programs a lot in his spare time and he's a fucking genius. Writes a lot of graphics and 3D code, on old platforms like DOS, that sort of thing. Turns out he drove a truck for a living and programmed in his spare time only. Seemed to be having a blast.
