Christopher Nolan and Guillermo Del Toro on Owning Physical Media
- helsinkiandrew 3y ago> Nolan said at a recent "Oppenheimer" screening that it's important to own the film on Blu-ray so that "no evil streaming service can come steal it from you." "There is a danger, these days, that if things only exist in the streaming version they do get taken down, they come and go," the director added. I'm not sure if he's talking as a consumer or a film maker - I had a lot of VHS (now gone apart from a few sentimental ones), have boxes of DVDs which I'm not sure I want to watch again and no player anyway. Most of the rarer movies that I'd like to see but aren't available on streaming services aren't really worth the high prices as low volume physical media.
