Yeah I'm not sure how long ago you used it but ExplorerPatcher nowadays is setup so that it disables itself if explorer crashes more than like twice in a row so that you can debug the issue. Normally it's just a matter of fetching the new symbols (which happens automatically) and occasionally updating. Afterwards you can relaunch EP... or you can just leave it disabled if you are busy.
