My first experience with the 'live' ISO forced me to find how to get the traditional non-live ISO instead. I was trying to set up a software RAID, and it would just crash no matter how I tried to configure it. Tried the same thing in the non-live version and it worked perfectly first time.
Sadly now the live installer is the only option. I recently set up a machine to run folding@home, and it took me four attempts before the installer didn't crash and I could get a working machine. The trick was to run with all defaults and not change anything. Insanity. How the support forums aren't flooded with complaints is beyond me.
