Take away a 13900 or 14000 intel CPU and an NVIDIA 4090 will give m3 performance...cheap ipower tower at best buy for $1800...see

Had to figure out which way to go with the assumption that production app
builds was through cloud...currently thread ripper cannot beat intel 13900 and 14000. Given the different boost setups not sure why the difference.

- whalesalad 3y agoThe latest AMD HEDT processors just dropped. They smoke the top end Intel chips (14900K) but they cost 3-5k a piece lol. https://www.phoronix.com/review/threadripper-7970x-7980x-linux https://www.phoronix.com/review/threadripper-7970x-7980x-lin... Assuming money is no object: If you want fast cores, get an Intel. If you want lots of cores, get AMD. I was with you until you said 4090... of course that is going to smoke an M3 it's a $2000 GPU. When you consider the M3 is a CPU and GPU combined, it is a pretty compelling offering.
- blackoil 3y agoApple will not be value for money for desktops, especially if you need large RAM, disk. Top of the line Max won't beat mid range 40xx. For laptop though build quality, battery life screen etc. matter. I was looking for a personal desktop 6 months back, building an Intel based was no brainer. And now I can upgrade SSD/RAM and graphics as my need budget evolve.
