While this would be perfectly reasonable if OpenAI was for profit, it’s ostensibly a non profit. The entire reason they wanted her on the board in the first place was for her expert academic opinion on AI safety. If they see that as a liability, why did they pretend to care about those concerns in the first place?
That said, if she objects to open AI’s practices, the common sense thing to do is to resign from the board out of protest, not take actions that lead to the whole operation being burned to the ground.
