  Yeah thats an interesting statement. People leaving or wanting to get him out usually indicates that the person - altman in this case - is quite toxic. Being a toxic person yet preferred by microsoft and others indicates he’s “willing”, meaning he will do whatever they ask of him. And that’s not in the best interest of openai.

  Skilled journalists (and this piece was written by skilled journalists) would not use the three members of the board as their only three sources. A big part of this kind of journalism is taking information from sources, considering the potential bias of each source and carefully correlating it with information from other sources before publishing it. That bit specifically says: "After they failed, they gave up and departed, according to three people familiar with the attempt to push Mr. Altman out." My guess is that at least one of those people comes from the Anthropic side, who would be someone with a clear insight into what happened.
